First rental day
For your first rental day, plan a short distance so that you have sufficient time to familiarise yourself with your vehicle and to enable you to purchase the first food items for the journey. There is also a lot to take in when being instructed to use your Motorhome and the handover demonstration can take over one hour. Please also be aware that some rental companies insist that you cannot collect your Motorhome after a long flight and insist on an overnight stay before driving.

One-way rentals
Some firms offer one way rentals between pick up sites especially in Canada, USA , New Zealand,Australia and Europe, one way rentals are limited in the U.K. Please note there will be charges for drop off more details can be found on the 'Rental Companies' link on the left handside menu button. Please note that in case of a cancellation, the one-way fee will be charged in full.

Driver's licence information
In most cases, the national driving licence is sufficient. However, we suggest that you bring along an international driving licence if available. You must also be aware that you will be required to sign forms at the rental station stating your ability and suitability of your driving licence. Some companies require that you have at least two years experience on a full valid driving permit/licence and often there is a minimum and maximum age for renting a Motorhome . You are responsible to check suitability details , for further information choose the 'Rental Companies' link on the left handside menu button.

Preparation fee information
Usually, a preparation fee has to be booked together with a vehicle rental. This fee generally includes the first supply of toilet chemicals, propane and the specific equipment for your vehicle. In section "Our partners", you will find the details of each rental company.

Vehicle pick-up
Most rental companies do not allow collection of your motorhome on the day of arrival after a long haul flight. this is due to tiredness after the flight and is for your own safety of driving a new unfamiliar vehicle in a new country. We therefore strongly recommend that you spend the first night in a hotel of your choice and book the Motorhome for collection the following day. In the U.S. and Canada, the earliest possible pick-up date after a transatlantic flight is the day after your arrival. Similar restrictions do not exist in Australia, New Zealand and Africa. Please read the details of each rental company on our website in section "Our partners" the link is located on the left handside of the menu list.

Vehicle drop-off
It is vital that you prepare your journey and arrive at the return rental station at the exact allocated time. In ssome cases the vehicle may be going out on rent to another client and charges ill be due for late returns. Please allow up to 1 hour duration for the return procedure may be more in peak season. The vehicle should be returned cleaned (inside and outside) with full propane and petrol tank, empty freshwater and sewage tank. Otherwise, the rental company charges an additional cleaning fee. In section "Our partners", you find detailed information of each rental company.

Vehicle types

Van

This vehicle type is ideal for 2 - 3 people. With a minimum of space, you can drive this van comfortably even through narrow roads and yet find that the specification has all necessary features.

Pick-up or truck camper

Pick-up or truck campers are trucks which have been equipped with a living area. Special Feature: Driving cab and living area are separated without connection. The living area of Motorhome 5th wheel or Super Travel Camper is attached to the tow vehicle as a trailer. This vehicle is ideal for travellers who wish to stay at the same location for several days and enjoy all the advantages of a car.

Motorhome

In this section, several types and sizes are available. Motorhomes offer a maximum comfort and luxurious space for extensive camping holidays as well as passenger seats in the living area. Driver and living area are connected. However, it is recommended to book a motorhome for less passengers than the maximum capacity indicates to enable the travellers more space and comfort to relax.

Early Bird discount
Some of our partners offer great early bird discounts, which are usually limited to special booking and payment terms. At Vivantiworldwide.com, you decide how much you are willing to pay for your holiday by choosing your individual choice of payment terms.

Vehicle size and fuel details
Our experience has proven that the choice of the right vehicle plays an important role in spending a successful holiday. It is advisable not to select a Motorhome and travel with the maximum capacity of travellers, even if the dimensions sound adequate. it is recommended to choose a larger vehicle as you usually find that the price difference to the next larger vehicle category is often very small compared to the additional comfort you receive. The engine size depends on the model, The USA Canada and New Zealand prefer the petrol engine models whereas the Europeans and UK stations tend to sell diesel engine models , this may be due to cost of fuel in the UK and Europe compared to the other countries!.

Convenience kit
When you rent a vehicle, you have the choice to reserve a convenience kit in advance. The convenience kit includes , pillows, bed linen or sleeping bag, tableware (pots, pans, cutlery and towel). along with valuable equipment such as a torch, bottle opener and corkscrew. The rental of a convenience kit is not mandatory, but our experience has proven that most travellers prefer to choose this option. The equipment of the rental company fits exactly into the provided shelves and cupboards of your rental vehicle and can therefore be stored without the risk of getting damaged during the trip.

Vehicle specifications length and height
The length of the vehicle is usually indicated in feet. One foot equals 30.48cms. With the larger campervans there is also the height to consider, these details are usually supplied by the rental station. Please be aware if you are a first time Motorhome driver that if you are not used to driving such a sized vehicle you must take extra care.

Travel documents
Unless otherwise stated, you receive your travel documents at least 3 weeks prior to your planned departure. The voucher for your camper rental contains information about the rental company as well as maps.

Luggage / Luggage storage
We would advise to travel using flexible, foldable bags which are are more convenient than suitcases and use much less storage space in your Campervan. Also damage can be caused with heavy hard duty cases!. If you are collecting and returning your vehicle at the pick-up location, it may be possible to store your spare luggage at the rental station. This is a request that you can make, a charge may be applicable. Detailed information can be found in the section "Rental Companies " of our website.

Route planning
Make sure that you plan realistic itineraries for each day, so that you arrive at your destination early in the afternoon. Often, the distances between the sights are longer than expected and traffic conditons may vary. You must also bear in mind that at first you will now be used to the roads and traffic conditions of new places that you visit. Please take care at all times when driving.

Holiday/Travel Preparation
Allow yourself plenty of time to plan, compare rates and study the requirements and conditions of the various rental companies before you make your choice. Bear in mind that some rental stations will be extra busy at peak season especially in holiday towns and booking early can not only secure you the Motorhome that you want but discounts apply in many cases for early bookings.

Where to stay?
Often, wild camping is not allowed, but you will find spacious campsites everywhere. There are two types available: government-owned campsites are commonly set in great locations, however often they are without much comfort ie water and power access. Private campsites, which belong to large chains (e.g. KOA in the U.S.) are well-equipped, more luxurious and offer additional facilities such as barbeque area, shower, toilet as well as all necessary adaptors for your vehicle. Some sites also offer laundry facilities and a small convenience store. When you pick up your vehicle, you usually receive detailed camping guides, maps and maybe even discount cards for specific campsites.

Important facts during your journey
In most cases, wearing seatbelts is mandatory. It is the responsibility of the hirer to check the oil level, water levels and tyre pressure on a regular basis throughout the hire period. You do have a responsibility to make sure the vehicle is in a good running condition whilst under your ownership if you have querries you must call the rental station.

What to do in case of a Breakdown?
It is vital to report any breakdown to your rental company. Minor, repairs will be refunded by the rental company up to a certain value and a valid receipt must be produced. For larger amounts, please enquire at the rental company prior to the repair work. Detailed information for each rental company can be found in the section "Rental Companies" of our website.

What to do in case of an Accident?
To comply with your insurance cover, any accident has to be reported immediately to the police (with written accident report issued by the police) and to the rental company. Detailed information for each rental company can be found in the section "Rental Companies " of our website.

Mileage
Where a mileage packet has been purchased there is no refund due for miles purchased but not used. Please plan your trip and mileage as there is charge for doing more miles than planned and this can be expensive.

Security Deposit and CDW insurance
When taking your motorhome you will be asked to leave credit card details as security of payment up to a pre determined value. this amount is held against any damage that may occur to the vehicle whilst in your possesion. The security bond is not to be confused with the collision damage waiver which is an amount due to be paid if you are invloved in a collision/road traffic accident. Collision Damage waiver insurance can be purchased which when paid will reduce the excess due under the collision damamge policy from a £ $ AUD determined figure to nil. On some occasions the collision damage waiver insurance may be included in the rate paid, please see the 'Rental Companies' link on the left hand side menu button for full individual details or you can ask us if you have any queries about any of the points mentioned on this page. The insured amount for accidental damage varies depending on the rental company.
